White Knight Chronicles II, developed by Level-5 exclusively for the PlayStation 3, is a throwback to Japanese styled role-playing games of old, reminiscent of early Final Fantasy games. The story, featuring your typical group of good characters vs. an empire of evil, serves as the backdrop for this cross between a mix of the action role-playing game genre and the turn-based role-playing game genre. In battle, you are free to move your character around but cannot attack until your action meter is full; at first, this system takes a bit of time to get used to but ultimately becomes second nature. To complement this system is the variety of customization in battling: there are over eight different weapon classes with over 50 skills to master in each class. The customization also extends to character creation, with many options to choose from.
