Uncharted 3

Uncharted 3, released exclusively for the PlayStation 3, again follows the adventures of Nathan Drake, famous treasure hunter, as he once again seeks not just buried treasure, but a buried city: Iram of the Pillars. For this outing, Nathan is joined by his good friend and father figure Victor Sullivan, who has also appeared in every Uncharted game to date. Like Uncharted 2, you needn’t play past games in the series to enjoy Uncharted 3; while it would help to flesh out the characters, it isn’t required to fully enjoy this game. Uncharted 3 not only deals with present day adventuring, but also deals with Nathan Drake’s past in the form of flashbacks, as many questions about him are finally answered. Fans can expect to see Chloe and Elena return as well along with a few new faces.

During the Nintendo 3DS’s first year at retail, Nintendo released quite a few titles for it; unfortunately, many of these titles were ports of previous games, such as Starfox 64 3D and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Super Mario 3D Land is an all new adventure spanning 96 levels across 16 worlds, combining 3D graphics with 2D gameplay. In a typical Mario plotline, Bowser has once against kidnapped Princess Peach and it is once again up to Mario to rescue her.

The Legend of Zelda series is one of Nintendo’s flagship series, having released more than 10 games across all of Nintendo’s systems. However, one could say the series was getting a bit formulaic, as the game always featured the same puzzles, combat and setting. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, releasing exclusively for the Nintendo Wii, looks to be just another typical Zelda game at first glance. However, when you dig a little deeper, you’ll see that Skyward Sword modernizes the series in a way no past Zelda game has done. In this story, Zelda and Link are residents of Skyloft, a city high in the clouds above Hyrule. Transportation is made possible by large birds, allowing you to fly from island to island. However, when Zelda disappears to the surface of Hyrule, Link is the only one with a chance of rescuing her.

The Elder Scrolls series, developed by Bethesda, is a role-playing game series that has always emphasized freedom. You are free to travel wherever you want, do whatever you want and even kill anyone you want. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, coming soon for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, continues this trend in the series. Skyrim is set in the province of Skyrim, a cold, snowy place mostly inhabited by Nords: strong barbarians who live to fight. As Skyrim comes under attack by dragons, who have not been seen in centuries, it is up to you, the Dovahkiin, to stop this dragon invasion and bring peace back to the land of Skyrim.
