Injustice: Gods Among Us Review

One of the most oft-debated discussions in any comic shop or among friends when discussing the vast DC Comics universe is “Who would win in a fight?” It's a bone that DC throws its fans time and time again, with numerous Batman Vs. Superman match-ups for fans to enjoy; however, the results of these fights may not be what you expected as it's just that one writer's interpretation. Perhaps you truly believe that in a no-holds barred slugfest Superman really could defeat Batman, and what of the fights you may want to see that will most likely never get written? Bane Vs. Flash? Joker Vs. Aquaman? Lex Luthor Vs. Doomsday? If you've ever been the type to assemble DC Comics dream matches in your spare time, Injustice: Gods Among Us is the answer you've been waiting for.

Bioshock: Infinite Review

In 2007, Ken Levine and the team at Irrational Games brought us BioShock, heralded by many as one of the most defining games of this console generation. Levine and his team did not work on the sequel, BioShock 2, a sequel that, while decent, did not live up to his predecessor, due to the fact Levine was crafting the next big thing for the BioShock franchise: BioShock Infinite. Is BioShock Infinite a worthy successor to the Bioshock franchise? Does it succeed in ways that BioShock 2 did not? Read on to find out!

God Of War: Ascension Review

by phnk

When we last saw Kratos delivering the final blow in God of War III nearly three years ago, most of us thought it would be the last time we saw the cursed man as the epic trilogy came to a close. Obviously, this is not the case as SCE Santa Monica Studio has announced God of War: Ascension. However, this game isn't a continuation from God of War III, whose ending left us with no inclination of the series' future (which is a rare thing for games to do these days), but rather a prequel showcasing Kratos before the events of God of War 1.

Tomb Raider Raider: A Buried Treasure Unearthed

It’s safe to say that fans are used to seeing Lara Croft by now; since her debut in 1996, she has starred in over nine games, including a remake of her first adventure and a spinoff, been played by Angelina Jolie in two films and had not only a comic book tie-in but also an animated series. She has done battle with enemies ranging from tigers and humans to dinosaurs and mythological creatures and travelled to every continent on the globe. It's safe to say Lara has seen and done it all, so what can Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix possibly do to make this iteration feel different?

CES: Oculus Rift Eyes-On and Q&A with Palmer Luckey

We had the opportunity to meet with Palmer Luckey and the team at CES to discuss the latest changes to the Oculus Rift including its new in-house-developed sensor. After the eyes-on demonstration with the Rift, I can say this is perhaps the best VR headset I've ever experienced for gaming. And it's only getting better.

CES: NVidia Unveils Project Shield

In one of hopefully many surprises we’ll see at CES, NVidia has announced a pure Android-based hand held gaming and media device. Fully featured with a 5-inch 720p multi-touch screen, HDMI out, Micro-SD slot, and Wi-Fi, the Shield appears to be quite an impressive clamshell device for portable gaming. It was demonstrated live on stage playing a number of graphically demanding games like Hawken, with support for Unreal Engine. The audio processor, said to be the “equivalent to a laptop with Beats Audio”, even changes the sound processing when you set the device on the table.

Hitman: Absolution Review

Considering the amount of controversy that IO Interactive and Square Enix faced during development, including accusations of being too easy and not using iconic voice actor David Bateson, it is a very welcome surprise to see that Hitman: Absolution returns to its series' roots with this iteration. While the PC game does provide new ways to make the game a little easier for newcomers, it does fully retain its other hardcore aspects to still provide a significant challenge no matter the skill level of the player.

Far Cry 3 Review: The definition of (awesome) insanity

Harsh and atypical, Far Cry 3's Rook Island is completely overrun by zealous pirates out on a mission as protagonist Jason Brody fights though rabid wildlife and drug runners to save his friends from captivity. The PC game is one that doesn't follow the standard first-person shooter formula, ignoring carefully scripted set pieces, instead opting for getting all of the information out at once before throwing the player into the thick of disaster.

New Super Mario Bros. U Review

After 31 years in the industry, Mario has been a part of more historical events than most people read about in school textbooks. At some point, there comes to be a time when it seems impossible to put Mario into new situations, so it shouldn't be a surprise that the Wii U-exclusive title New Super Mario Bros. U is actually pretty far from new. In fact, it would perhaps be more appropriate to rename the game as More Super Mario Bros., if anything.
