Right away, Crysis 2 offers something that the original Crysis never did: a version of the game playable on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in addition to the PC. However, this is not the only change that Crysis 2 making; while some elements of the original game were kept, new elements were also added. In terms of what is the same, the Nanosuit returns, allowing players to activate special abilities to aid in combat situations. For example, Maximum Armor allows you to take more damage before you die while Maximum Stealth allows you to become invisible. Also returning from the original Crysis is the open-ended gameplay; there are multiple ways to dispatch your enemies. Do you snipe them from far away, kill them one by one while you are invisible or use the environment to your advantage, crushing many enemies at once? The choice is yours to make.

The major change that Crysis 2 is making from Crysis is the setting. Gone is the jungle environment from the original Crysis, replaced with New York City; players will battle below ground, on the city streets and even above ground in this recreation of one of the United States’ most famous cities. In addition to human enemies, players also must battle alien invaders called Ceph; often, battles will devolve into a three way battle royale. Not only are the Ceph and the humans wanting to destroy you, they also want to destroy each other.

Like most first-person shooters, Crysis 2 features online multiplayer that is reminiscent of the same multiplayer you would see in Call of Duty; as you destroy your enemies, you gain experience, allow you to level up and gain access to new weapons and abilities. Crysis 2 features six game modes, twelve maps and fifty ranks to obtain, giving multiplayer a good deal of replayability.

Crysis was known for pushing the limits of what a gaming PC can do in terms of visuals; while Crysis 2 may not push the boundaries of graphics as far as the original game did, it still looks stunning. Releasing simultaneously on all three systems on March 22nd, 2011, it would be a real crisis if you did not give Crysis 2 a chance.
