Starfox64_3D_Comic-Con_Trailer-H264_HQ

Much like The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, Starfox 64 was originally released on the Nintendo 64 in 1997. Also much like Ocarina of Time receiving a 3D upgrade on the Nintendo 3DS, Starfox 64 follows its footsteps and likewise receives a similar upgrade.  Titled Starfox 64 3D, this 3DS exclusive game shrinks Star Fox 64 down to portable form. Everything from the original Starfox 64 is included in Starfox 64 3D: the story mode and the battle mode are both included in this new version of the game. However, while the story mode is unchanged from Starfox 64, the battle mode has been redesigned. Starfox 64 3D does includes some additions over the previous game to help it take advantage of the 3DS’s capabilities.

While the game can be played using the same control configuration as the Nintendo 64 version, a special 3DS mode has been included in Starfox 64 3D. In this mode, your ship is controlled by the 3DS’s motion sensors; your ship moves in the direction you tilt your 3DS. In addition, Starfox 64 3D’s features improved graphics designed to take advantage of the 3D technology present in the system. Ships, lasers and objects in the environment leap off the screen and make you feel as though you really are battling through space.

In battle mode, up to four players can play against each other using only one Starfox 64 3D cartridge; unfortunately, this mode is not playable online. In battle mode, all players control an Arwing, the main ship in the game, in an attempt to destroy each other in an arena based setting. Players can choose from three different modes within the battle mode to keep multiplayer battles continually fresh.

While Starfox 64 3D, releasing on September 9th, 2011, does not feature many updates to the original game, it is still worth playing. For gamers new to the series, this is their chance to try a classic and for series veterans, it is yet another chance to play through this classic game.
