Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

image description

by phnk

Gamers interested in games in the flight genre, but who aren’t interested in the in-depth simulation aspects many of them include, don’t have many games to choose from. Luckily for those gamers, the one series they do have, Ace Combat, has a stellar track record of combining only a few simulation aspects with an emphasis on arcade-like gameplay. The latest game in the series is Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, coming soon for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon seems to add just enough new elements while maintaining what has made the series popular for so many years; a winning combination for both new and old fans to the franchise.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Batman: Arkham Asylum, coming soon for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, focuses on the two aspects of the character that have made him a comic book icon for the past 40 years: a story that highlights the cerebral side of Batman and his abilities as a crime fighter. Paul Dini, who has brought his experience as a writer from Batman: The Animated Series, has crafted an all-new story that ties into the Batman mythos. When the inmates take over the asylum, Batman finds himself in a fight for his life against some of his worst enemies, including Killer Croc, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and Joker.

Twisted Metal Review: Metal, Blood, Bones and a sweet…. tooth

Upon its release in 1995, Twisted Metal became a household name for the PlayStation. Its unique cast of characters, interesting plot, car combat gameplay and amazing multiplayer helped cement it as one of the PlayStation’s best games in its first year. However, a string of subpar sequels caused the Twisted Metal brand to languish, even though it saw a brief resurrection with the critically acclaimed Twisted Metal: Black for PlayStation 2. Series creator David Jaffe returns to the series to revive it once again with the PlayStation 3 exclusive Twisted Metal.

Total Recall: Reimagined

The movie industry trend of remaking films has taken an interesting turn. The brains looked backward this time to bring an old classic and give it a once over for todays modern audiences. By the looks of the trailer, they seem to be doing a great job. I am not a fan of the trend myself but I can’t help but admit that the trailer has me interested. Set for release august 3 you can find the trailer in all its HD glory at Apple’s trailer page.

During the Nintendo 3DS’s first year at retail, Nintendo released quite a few titles for it; unfortunately, many of these titles were ports of previous games, such as Starfox 64 3D and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Max Payne 3

image description

by phnk

First released in 2001, with a sequel in 2003, Max Payne was known for a few things: it’s use of noir, its use of bullet time and its overall story line and voice work. Despite being a successful series, and even receiving a Hollywood movie, Max Payne fans have been eagerly anticipating the third game in the series for quite some time. Rewarding their patience, Rockstar has unveiled Max Payne 3 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The third entry in the series capitalizes on the three strengths the franchise is known for, while being a good entry point for newcomers; Max Payne 3’s story is able to stand on its own without knowledge of the previous two games.
